Gas stoves provide a number of advantages:
- Gas is an economical fuel source (compared with electricity)
- Gas provides an instant heat
- Gas ovens help to retain the moisture in your food for delicious cooking results
- Gas cooktops are good for wok cooking
Please note that you will need to make sure your household has access to a natural gas connection.
What is an Elevated Stove?
While upright stoves place the cooktop on top of the oven, elevated stoves place the oven beside the cooktop, at waist level. Because you don’t need to crouch down to open the oven, elevated stoves are perfect for anyone with mobility issues.
Gas Stove Features to Consider
Upright gas stoves start at 60cm and go up to 120cm. Please remember to measure the space you’ve got available in your kitchen before you buy.
The wide 90cm and 120cm models are perfect for people who love cooking because the oven capacity is larger and the space on top of the stove makes it easy to cook with several large pans at once.
If you love cooking stir fries, look for a gas stove with a dedicated wok burner.
Fan Forced Oven
With a fan forced oven, heat will be circulated evenly around the oven cavity for better (and faster) cooking results.
Selected stoves come with a separate grill. If you’re the kind of person who likes grilling chops, sausages, streak or skewers – this is a great investment.
If your stove doesn’t feature a separate grill, chances are it will include a grill function inside the oven.
Flame Failure Safety Device
The more advanced models of gas stove will include flame failure safety devices – which automatically switch off the gas supply if the flame goes out. This is a feature worth paying a little extra for.
