Choose between nine preset recipes — beef, lamb, pork, poultry, fish, vegetables, pizza, cakes and biscuits. The Smeg oven will advise on the best shelf height for optimum cooking results. There are also three extra memories to store family favourite recipes.
Temperature, function, time or a fully automatic Smart Chef program are all logically reflected in the electronic LED display. If a step progression is required, the LED display highlights the next step to follow.
The SCA712N is prefitted with telescopic guides for each of the three shelf levels. On shelf 2 (middle) and shelf 3 (top) the oven tray or chrome shelf can slide perfectly flat and safely 110% into the kitchen space. Shelf 1 (bottom) slides 75% forward.
The new Ever-Clean enamelling includes the oven’s floor. Smeg encourages the chef to use this space. The enamelling is robust; it will stand baking, roasting trays, casseroles and even pizza stones.
Cleverly, the capacity of a giant 90cm Smeg oven has been retained with a more compact 70cm format. The side fascia panels have disappeared and a new ceramic insulation is inserted between the carcase walls to eliminate heat transference to adjacent cabinetry.
Unique to smeg is the fully sealed, non-venting oven. This sealing ensures full capacity loading, lower temperatures and faster cooking.
The thermoseal ensures cooking does not require the addition of fluids (fats, oils) to maintain a moist cooking environment. Nor does the oven require attention — that is, turning, basting or repositioning while grilling, roasting or baking.
Sustainable lower temperatures, shorter cooking durations and higher capacities combine with virtual ‘hands-free’ cooking in a nonpolluting, non-venting system, delivering both a costing and lifestyle efficiency.
The SCA712N oven can be pre-programmed to start and finish cooking. It is also semi automatic in that the cooking is started manually and then programmed to finish at a set time. There is also the ‘minute minder’, variable up to 23 hours and 59 minutes, which counts down to an audible signal with volume variability, as a reminder call to return to the oven for any cooking adjustment. These timing applications help ensure perfect cooking results and, importantly, peace of mind.
Also uniquely Smeg is the removable Ever-Clean roof over the grill elements. Historically this is the most
inaccessible and difficult area of an oven to clean. Now, simply slide this liner out for easy wiping over or
Since the oven cavity is denied a vented air supply, there is reduced splatter and oxidising (‘burningon’) of food particles and fluids onto interior surfaces and oven furniture.
Smeg’s enamelling process is unique, creating a silky-smooth finish on oven interiors and baking trays. A combination of formulae, coating application and firing processes creates a truly superior result. The enamel finish is pyrolytic quality and is used on all models, both standard and pyrolytic, in the range.
An independent fan sources air from the kitchen and passes this air through the control panel and then around the carcase of the oven, exiting at the lower front of the oven back into the kitchen. The double-glazed door, in unison with the cavity cooling system, ensures all external surfaces are safe to touch.

ECO (FAN + PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT)
Using the grill and lower heating element in combination is particularly suitable for cooking on a single shelf only, as it provides low energy consumption.
CONVECTION (PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT+ FLOOR ELEMENT)
A gentle heat for long slow cooking of fruit cakes, casseroles & slow roasts. Single level cook using the middle zone of the oven to achieve perfect results.
PROOFING (BOTH ROOF ELEMENTS)
Heat from the top of the oven cavity makes it easier to proof all types of dough and guarantees perfect results, quickly.
STATIC GRILL (PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT + INNER ROOF ELEMENT)
Radiant heat is directed straight onto the top of your food. Use this function for toast, cheese melts, focaccia etc. Turn to this function toward the end of cooking if the food requires additional top browning. Oven door must be closed while grilling.
BASE HEAT (CONCEALED FLOOR ELEMENT ONLY)
Choose Base Heat for crisp pastry or any dish needing a higher base temperature. Base Heat will also keep a full oven hot without overcooking. Snowy white crisp Pavlova is easily achieved with this function.
SUPERCOOK (FAN+PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT+FLOOR ELEMENT+CIRCULAR REAR ELEMENT)
Faster preheating. Perfect for roasting; after the meat is removed from the oven to rest, turn the temperature up to 220˚C for the best roast potatoes.
FAN GRILL (FAN+PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT+INNER ROOF ELEMENT)
High power full width grilling producing succulent grilled meat, chicken or fish, while at the same time baking vegetables & dessert below. Also great for chips. With this function both top elements are being used. The oven door must be closed while grilling.
FAN ASSISTED (FAN+PERIMETER ROOF ELEMENT+FLOOR ELEMENT)
Excellent general cooking function for roasts, cakes and desserts. Provides very even cooking throughout the middle zones of the oven. The highest and lowest levels will provide additional top or bottom browning and crisping.
FAN FORCED (FAN + CIRCULAR REAR ELEMENT)
This versatile function is ideal for baking and roasting large quantities of food. It allows you to use every shelf position, including the oven floor, because the heat source is from the back of the oven.
SUPER FAN FORCED (FAN+CIRCULAR REAR ELEMENT+FLOOR ELEMENT)
Excellent for quiche and custard tarts etc when you need base heat for browning and crisping of the pastry base while the filling is cooked in the gently circulating heat. Preheat your pizza stone and cook pizza on the floor of the oven.
BAKERS FUNCTION (FAN ONLY + FLOOR ELEMENT)
Sensational for dishes with a pastry base. Produce wonderfully crisped pies, tarts and quiches, every time.
DEFROST (FAN ONLY)
Defrost your frozen food without changing the appearance or character of the food with this fan assisted function. Choose length of defrost time by selecting a weight or a time.
(for flush mounting, add maximum 4mm to height and width for cabinet dimensions)
Packaged dimensions 690mm x 760mm x 670mm = 0.35m³
Internal oven dimensions 340mmH x 615mmW x 440mmD = 92 litre
Net cooking dimensions 310mmH x 605mmW x 420mmD = 78.7 litre
