Please use the following as a rough guide:

  • Medium household (3-4 people): 5.5kg-8kg
  • Large household (4+ people): 8kg or larger

Other Washing Machine Features to Consider

Water Efficiency If water efficiency is a concern, you should buy a front load washing machine. Look for a machine with a 4 star or higher rating. Energy Efficiency Likewise, front load washing machines tend to be the most energy efficient. Considering the rising cost of electricity, an efficient machine will save you money in the long run. Automatic Load Sensing Available in the more advanced models, this feature uses sensor technology to figure out how much water is needed, and how long the wash cycle needs to be. This makes the machine easier to operate, and also helps it to run more efficiently. Programs Generally speaking, the more expensive your machine, the more programs it will have. Have a look at the list of programs to see if they are suited to your needs. Dimensions Measure your available space and then check the dimensions of the washing machine before you buy. You should also measure the doors and hallways leading up to your laundry to make sure you’ll be able to get it in. Spin Cycle The faster the spin cycle, the quicker your laundry will dry. Please note: fast spin speeds aren’t available on all wash cycles.
